SEASON 2023

PLAYOFF WEEK 16

Week HighAdil149.2
Week LowIssa94.7
THE WEEKLY REPORT: the numbers are in and several of them are embarrassing.

Playoff football: where regular-season frauds go to be found out. Yousef put 138.1 on Karim in a 37.9-point mugging that should interest law enforcement. Adil beat Omar H. 149.2-123.0, and the less said about the loser's flex spot, the kinder.

Adil dropped a league-best 149.2, which buys exactly one week of trash talk credit. Issa brought up the rear with 94.7, a number you can achieve by autodrafting and losing your phone.

Same time next week, unless the commissioner finally has this booth silenced.

SEMIFINAL
Karim
(Abu Jabal)
100.2@138.1
Yousef
(McCafre)
Pregame · The Booth

The film doesn't lie, and unfortunately for one of these teams, I've watched it. Postseason stakes. This is where champions are made and where pretenders get exposed on my broadcast, in high definition. Yousef rolls in at 11-3 while Karim is dragging a 8-7 record behind them like a busted trailer hitch. The metrics say mismatch. The metrics are being polite. Yousef has won 3 straight, and has started walking around like they invented zone-read analytics. Kickoff's coming. Set your lineups, say your prayers.

Postgame · The Booth

McCafre handles business, 138.1-100.2. Karim will tell you it was closer than the score. The score disagrees, and the score was there. Yousef advances. Karim goes home. Playoff football is a meritocracy, and the merit just spoke at volume.

SEMIFINAL
Omar H.
(Omar’s B*tches)
123.0@149.2
Adil
(Dilmeisters)
Pregame · The Booth

Two managers enter. One leaves pretending they 'didn't even check their lineup.' Postseason stakes. This is where champions are made and where pretenders get exposed on my broadcast, in high definition. Adil rolls in at 11-4 while Omar is dragging a 8-7 record behind them like a busted trailer hitch. The metrics say mismatch. The metrics are being polite. Omar’s B*tches rides a 3-game heater into this one. Regression is undefeated, but sure, enjoy the moment. Somebody tell the benches to stay warm. They usually outscore the starters around here.

Postgame · The Booth

FINAL: Dilmeisters 149.2, Omar’s B*tches 123.0. Workmanlike win for Adil. Nothing pretty about it, but neither is this league. That 149.2 from Dilmeisters led the entire league this week. Even I have to tip the cap. Briefly. It's back on now. Adil advances. Omar goes home. Playoff football is a meritocracy, and the merit just spoke at volume.

CONSOLATION
Issa
(Shamjesus)
94.7@123.0
Zaid
(Campaign Papi)
Pregame · The Booth

Strap in, folks. Somebody's week is about to be ruined, and I get paid to watch. Consolation bracket action, which is Latin for 'games played exclusively out of spite.' Zaid (9-6) and Issa (9-6) come in dead even on paper, which is a polite way of saying neither has earned my respect. Somebody tell the benches to stay warm. They usually outscore the starters around here.

Postgame · The Booth

Campaign Papi handles business, 123.0-94.7. Issa will tell you it was closer than the score. The score disagrees, and the score was there. Shamjesus posted 94.7, the league's worst mark of the week. Frame it. Study it. Never speak of it again. Campaign Papi takes the consolation matchup. The prize is dignity, partially refunded.

CONSOLATION
Ahmad
(Lucy's Finest)
128.9@119.1
Adel(RIP 💀)
(Be my Jaan Robinson)
Pregame · The Booth

The film doesn't lie, and unfortunately for one of these teams, I've watched it. It's the toilet bowl circuit, folks, where pride goes to die and waiver claims go unclaimed. The spread on this one is roughly Adel's ego, which is to say: enormous. 7-8 against 5-10 doesn't lie. On to the action, where the points are made up and the projections don't matter.

Postgame · The Booth

FINAL: Lucy's Finest 128.9, Be my Jaan Robinson 119.1. Workmanlike win for Ahmad. Nothing pretty about it, but neither is this league. And that, friends, is an upset. Ahmad came in at 5-10, looked across at Adel's 7-8 juggernaut, and simply did not care. Beautiful, chaotic, disrespectful football. Lucy's Finest takes the consolation matchup. The prize is dignity, partially refunded.

CONSOLATION
Tarick
(Balls Deep)
128.3@130.3
Mustafa
(Team Mohammad)
Pregame · The Booth

The film doesn't lie, and unfortunately for one of these teams, I've watched it. It's the toilet bowl circuit, folks, where pride goes to die and waiver claims go unclaimed. Team Mohammad (6-9) is the clear favorite over Balls Deep (3-11), and if you disagree, congratulations, you must be Tarick. Team Mohammad has lost 6 straight, which by my math is 6 more consecutive losses than a competently managed franchise should allow. My prediction? Pain. Beautifully quantifiable pain.

Postgame · The Booth

By 2.0 points, Mustafa takes it, 130.3-128.3. Games this close are decided by benches, kickers, and the gods, and none of them like Tarick. Team Mohammad takes the consolation matchup. The prize is dignity, partially refunded.
