SEASON 2024

PLAYOFF WEEK 16

Week HighAdil186.5
Week LowAdel96.9
THE WEEKLY REPORT: we watched every lineup. Some of you should be in prison.

It's the postseason now, which means the mediocrity has consequences. Adil annihilated Yousef by 71.3, a score differential normally reserved for scrimmages against air. Okashah got past Ahmad, 160.4-146.5, in a game the tape will file under 'fine, whatever'.

Adil's 186.5 led the league this week, and yes, we all have to hear about it. Week's worst: Adel with 96.9. Twelve managers, and one of them scored THAT.

THIS WEEK IN LEAGUE HISTORY: 2023's Week 16 gave us Adil 149.2, Omar H. 123.0 — remembered fondly by exactly one of them.

The tape never lies, gentlemen. See you next week.

I've broken down the matchups. One of them broke down right back. And this one's for keeps, people. Playoff football. Win and advance, lose and spend the offseason drafting excuses. The spread on this one is roughly Yousef's ego, which is to say: enormous. 11-3 against 8-7 doesn't lie. Pirated CDs rides a 4-game heater into this one. Regression is undefeated, but sure, enjoy the moment. Kickoff's coming. Set your lineups, say your prayers.

Postgame · The Booth

Final score 186.5 to 115.2. Adil won by 71.3, which in this league is less a victory and more a formal humiliation. And that, friends, is an upset. Adil came in at 8-7, looked across at Yousef's 11-3 juggernaut, and simply did not care. Beautiful, chaotic, disrespectful football. 301.7 combined points. Somewhere a defensive coordinator is weeping, and neither of these managers cares. Adil's 186.5 was the top score in the league this week. Enjoy it. Peaks like this are usually followed by cliffs. Adil advances. Yousef goes home. Playoff football is a meritocracy, and the merit just spoke at volume.

I've broken down the matchups. One of them broke down right back. Postseason stakes. This is where champions are made and where pretenders get exposed on my broadcast, in high definition. Ahmad (10-5) and Okashah (9-6) come in dead even on paper, which is a polite way of saying neither has earned my respect. Kickoff's coming. Set your lineups, say your prayers.

Postgame · The Booth

160.4-146.5, Mohammad's Dolphins Team over Lucy's Finest. A professional beating. Not a memorable one, just a thorough one. 306.9 combined points. Somewhere a defensive coordinator is weeping, and neither of these managers cares. Okashah advances. Ahmad goes home. Playoff football is a meritocracy, and the merit just spoke at volume.

CONSOLATION

Omar A.
(Ninjer)
Pregame · The Booth

You wanted analysis. I brought a scalpel. It's the toilet bowl circuit, folks, where pride goes to die and waiver claims go unclaimed. Ninjer (7-8) versus Be my Jaan Robinson (7-8). Vegas calls this a pick'em. I call it mutually assured mediocrity. Omar has dropped 3 in a row, a stretch of football so bleak the league office considered a wellness check. On to the action, where the points are made up and the projections don't matter.

Postgame · The Booth

FINAL: Ninjer 115.9, Be my Jaan Robinson 96.9. Workmanlike win for Omar. Nothing pretty about it, but neither is this league. Be my Jaan Robinson posted 96.9, the league's worst mark of the week. Frame it. Study it. Never speak of it again. Ninjer takes the consolation matchup. The prize is dignity, partially refunded.

CONSOLATION

(The Omar Effect)
Pregame · The Booth

Welcome back to the only league where the tape never lies and neither do I. Consolation bracket action, which is Latin for 'games played exclusively out of spite.' Omar (7-8) and Issa (7-8) come in dead even on paper, which is a polite way of saying neither has earned my respect. Shamjesus rides a 3-game heater into this one. Regression is undefeated, but sure, enjoy the moment. Kickoff's coming. Set your lineups, say your prayers.

Postgame · The Booth

134.1-118.2, Shamjesus over The Omar Effect. A professional beating. Not a memorable one, just a thorough one. A consolation win for Issa, which is like winning an argument in the parking lot after the bar closed. Congratulations, technically.

CONSOLATION

Mustafa
(Team Mohammad)
Pregame · The Booth

Two managers enter. One leaves pretending they 'didn't even check their lineup.' Consolation bracket action, which is Latin for 'games played exclusively out of spite.' Team Mohammad (6-9) versus Hock Tua (5-9). Vegas calls this a pick'em. I call it mutually assured mediocrity. Hock Tua has lost 4 straight, which by my math is 4 more consecutive losses than a competently managed franchise should allow. Somebody tell the benches to stay warm. They usually outscore the starters around here.

Postgame · The Booth

Hock Tua 159.6, Team Mohammad 108.2. In the film room we call that a 'teaching tape.' Mustafa, you were the lesson. Hock Tua takes the consolation matchup. The prize is dignity, partially refunded.
